Our city has a long lasting tradition for mountaineering,and all started in the year 1928, when the first mountaineering club was formed, and only in the 1960-tees the first steps towards speleology begain, but still under the alpine-club "Gjeravica", section for speleology, until last year, to be more precise on august/2005 the first official club was formed by a few friends, under the name of "Aragonit" Speleo-Assocation from Peja, western city of Kosova.
In the year 2002, during august a large group of Italian speleologist and alpinists from Bergamo came to Kosova, with the task to train us for this exciting sports, some of us was trained for speleology and some for alpinism, even though that we were keen mountaineers for years. They also left us some gear so we can continue to develop caving in this part of Balkan.
And so we did, we are still managing to put in use that same gear, and on the last three years we have done some expeditions on the caves around Kosova, and discovered some new caves.
As a virgin area for caving there is a lot of caves around still untouched, and unexplored and just waiting for us to go in and search for deeper tunnels, and to put us a little further in the quest for adventure, or to determine our inner limits.
