Snow Cave, Lake of Kuqishte Village, Rugova Region, Peje

This cave is situated in Accursed Mountains, nearby Lake of Kuqishte, 27km from Peja, and then 1 hour walk from Gurri i Kuq-tourist centre, in a rocks above lake, at altitude 1870m above sea level.
The cave is difficult to reach because of the steep terrain, and you have to do some climbing on the rock. This cave is permanently covered with snow and ice, even in the hottest summer time.
It was used by the locals to take out the ice blocks from it and bring to the town of Peja on horse-back, and the ice blocks were sold in the market to keep the food cold during the hot summer days and also for making the ice-cream in the times when there was no fridges.
